About us
Over the last fifteen years I have written extensively on all aspects of human resource management, ethics, employment law and training and development. My work is contained in book chapters, magazine articles, academic papers, training programs and commentary in subscription information services.
I also carry out consulting work that fosters professional and organisational development. I have designed coaching and mentoring programs and worked in their implementation in large organisations.
My work is based on decades of experience in a range of operational roles: managing organisations in the community sector through periods of rapid growth and change, serving on management committees and boards, and carrying out varied types of projects in a wide range of industry contexts. My experience in educational roles includes high-school teaching, tutoring in adult education and university, and design of corporate training programs on compliance and leadership development.
My experience is complemented by tertiary education studies and research across the fields of human resources, business ethics, leadership, e-learning and training and development.
Clients for my writing, teaching and consulting work include CCH Australia, New South Wales Business Chamber, Stolmack Group, New South Wales Department of Planning, Towers Perrin, Ethical Investor, Department of Defence, CCH Asia, Neptune Orient Line (Singapore), Telstra, Australian Federal Police, Australian Institute of Training & Development.
My editing work includes five years as editor for the magazine, Training & Development in Australia. I was editor for the 2010 conference proceedings for Spirituality, Leadership and Management Incorporated and also edited its 2010 issue of the Journal for Spirituality, Leadership and Management. I have edited numerous books for other authors, as well as my own books.

Author and novelist
I wrote and published my first book for the professional market in 2007. In Human Values and Ethics in the Workplace I articulated my views about ethics in the workplace. The question that I think gnaws at many people is: “Is it possible to operate ethically in the contemporary workplace without losing things that are important to me – my job, my income, my popularity etc?”
I ventured sideways in 2010 and wrote my first novel: The Ten Thousand Things. It was a story (based on true events) about how a person sought to operate ethically in a leadership position when faced with dishonest attacks on his competence and integrity.
In late 2010 I wrote a second novel, called Sustenance. It will be released sometime in 2011. This novel deals with another situation where the management of an organisation was inept and allowed inferior people to exercise undue influence on events.
I have also published two volumes of poems and accompanying stories: Flames in the Open, and Love and Armour.
I have written two books on local history as well, from the time I spent living on the far north coast of New South Wales. Places in the Bush (1988) was a history of the Kyogle Shire, and other was The Kyogle Public School Centenary Book (1995).
My books have been published under the imprint of G.P. Martin Publishing, with all editing, design and layout being carried out in-house.
